Discipleship

What is a disciple?

At The Bridge, a disciple is defined as “an apprentice and worshipper of Jesus that is rooted in Him and
His body, follows in his ways, and embraces his commission to make disciples”.

Essentially, a disciple is a "learner" who has recognized their lost state and turned to Christ as Lord, Savior, and Teacher.

Our discipleship vision:

“To continuously grow each member into a disciple who knows Jesus Christ personally and goes on to make disciples”.

This vision is anchored in Jesus’ call and great commission for every believer to come follow after him and be sent out to make disciples.

How can I grow as a disciple?

One of the key ways by which a person grows as a disciple of Jesus at The Bridge Church is to engage in the discipleship journey. This journey is an intentional process designed to move people toward
spiritual maturity in Christ.

Engaging Non-Believers
This initial stage focuses on getting to know the community, doing good, and engaging the interest of non-believers in Jesus and his ministry.
Discovering the Gospel:
For those who have an interest in exploring the Christian faith, they are invited to discover who Jesus is through our small groups ministry and programs like the Alpha Course.
New Believer
Once an individual has turned to Christ, they are encouraged to take the baptism class and enter a mentoring relationship with their baptism sponsor. They also complete the New Beginnings Course.
Connect
Newcomers and new believers are meaningfully connected to the community of Christ at The Bridge through participation in a community group and becoming members of the church.
Serve
Members of the church begin to discover their spiritual gifts and serve the community as part of their worship of God.
Equip and Grow
In this phase, members deepen their faith through Freedom Sessions, leadership training, and the Christian Essentials Course while continuing to participate in a community group.
Apprentice in Disciple-making
Members begin to step into disciple-making roles by serving as assistant group leaders or assistant ministry leaders.
Active Disciple-maker
The culmination of the journey is to become a disciple of Jesus who is actively engaged in the work of making new disciples.
This pathway is intended to ensure that every member is encouraged and invited to take the next step in their discipleship journey, growing from a new believer to a mature disciple-maker.
