24/7 Prayer Week- Fall Kick-off
A Note From Craig...
I’ve got one big thing I want to communicate to you, one big thing I want to engage you with this week: prayer. I see so much evidence in our church of God’s grace and power. He is doing incredible things here, growing our church and causing people to become alive in Him. However, I am convinced that for this to continue moving forward and for us to make as much room as possible for Him to do His work, we must be a people of prayer. There’s no other way. Do you long for the work of the Spirit in you, in your family, in your church, in your community? Pray. Are there people you long to see know Christ? Pray. Are there things that feel too big, too overwhelming to deal with in your own prayer (there should be)? Pray. And pray with the church. Even when you’re praying on your own, know that you are not alone in this, but that you are surrounded by brothers and sisters who are praying with you.
Prayer is what Kevin Schular talked about on Sunday, and it’s how we want to begin this season as a church. As has become our rhythm, a week of 24/7 prayer is launching this Sunday. We are aiming to have an unbroken chain of prayer from Sunday until next Sunday, 24 hours a day, people from The Bridge praying for our church in this upcoming fall season. We will also have a number of ways people can gather for worship and prayer together.
But before I tell you what those are, I want to say that what I’m praying for, what I’m longing for, is that we will see more engagement in this upcoming 24/7 prayer week than ever before. I always desire to see growth and movement in our church, and there are various ways of discerning that. Attendance and giving are two that quickly come to mind, and, praise God, we have definitely seen growth in those! However, even more encouraging than those is when I see increased hunger for God through prayer. Our 24/7 Prayer week at Easter this year set the standard with 96 people signing up on the prayer chain. Can we top that this coming week? Can we pack out the atrium for those worship nights and fill this place with heartfelt worship?
